All the Left: Because we ought to at least be talking to eachother (/r/alltheleft)

All the Left is an attempt at helping strengthen the left by bringing many viewpoints, factions, organisations, parties and tendencies together to coordinate, discuss and cooperate. Basically, we want to bring the actual left together to improve communications, fight against the petty sectarianism that consistently harms us and better cooperate, without requiring true unity that would be infeasible given our various incompatible views. We still haven't entirely decided what form it will take or what direction we want to go with this but we're new and the conversation is going on right now. Join in and make your voice heard!

The Black And Purple Flag (/r/anarchafeminism)

For those who know that capital, the patriarchy and the state are intertwined and that one cannot be overthrown without also overthrowing the others.

For those who don't, note that we are against male privilege and male supremacy here because we're against all supremacy. If it was possible to replace male supremacy with any other kind of supremacy, for example female supremacy... well, that's not what we're about. No gods, no masters!

Posting guidelines

  • This subreddit is for posting and discussion of issues where feminism and anarchism intersect.

  • It's not intended to be Anarchafeminism 101. If you ask a question it may get answered, but please don't insist.

  • The value of anarchafeminism isn't up for debate in r/@f and neither is the value of defending a safer space on reddit.

Safer Space

r/@f aims to be a safer space. Please don't behave in ways which uphold systems of oppression, such as those which operate against women, older people, people with non-normative and/or non-normatively beautiful bodies, disabled people, bi people, people of colour, trans people, bi people, lesbian people or gay people.

It's all of our responsibilities to fight oppression, so everybody gets to point it out. Please hit the 'report' button if you see it. But if there's any doubt, the last word goes to a person who experiences that oppression.

Please add trigger warnings to links as appropriate. If you see a post that you think needs one but is missing one, please flag it to the mods.

Sister Subreddits

r/@f is part of a larger network of progressive subreddits. If you like it here in r/@f, you might also like it in:

And you might also like it in TwoXChromosomes, but there's some discussion about that. If you have an opinion, please add it there to the conversation.

Anarchism: Unremorsefully anti-capitalism and anti-state (/r/Anarchism)

Tendency icons available by clicking edit above.

Anarchism is a social movement that seeks liberation from oppressive systems of control including but not limited to the state, capitalism, racism, sexism, and religion. Anarchists advocate a self-managed, classless, stateless society without borders, bosses, or rulers where everyone takes collective responsibility for the health and prosperity of their community.

This is an anarchist space and if you join the discussion here, we assume that you are an anarchist, an ally, or want to learn more about Anarchism. Being an anarchist means you are against all forms of oppression (misogyny, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.). Review the Anti-Oppression Policy to see how you can help make space for marginalized people.

The global hub for those who cultivate land as guerrilla gardeners. (/r/GuerrillaGardening)

May 1st - International Guerrilla Gardening Day!

Guerrilla gardening is gardening on another person's land without permission. It encompasses a very diverse range of people and motivations, from the enthusiastic gardener who spills over their legal boundaries to the highly political gardener who seeks to provoke change through direct action. It has implications for land rights, land reform. The land that is guerrilla gardened is usually abandoned or neglected by its legal owner and the guerrilla gardeners take it over ("squat") to grow plants. Guerrilla gardeners believe in re-considering land ownership in order to reclaim land from perceived neglect or misuse and assign a new purpose to it.

LGBT: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (/r/lgbt)

Want Flair?

A space for GSM (Gender and Sexual Minority) folk to discuss their lives, issues, interests, and passions.

IRC: irc.synirc.org #rlgbt - info and rules

Rules

  • Rule 1: No homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, racism, or sexism. If you are unclear about what may constitute any of the above, please see the LGBT FAQ. If you are using triggering language in an educational or demonstrative capacity, we ask that you please wrap it in a trigger warning, e.g. [problematic language](/trigger). Alternatively, if you are submitting a post that contains hateful remarks or triggering language, please append a [TW] to your post title, e.g. [TW] Title of Post

  • Rule 2: Demonstrate a willingness to learn. This is a safe space. Anyone can make a mistake and accidentally say something hurtful or triggering. If you find yourself corrected for making this error, please try to learn from it. This is not a place to tell people that they need to reclaim a pejorative so you can use it, that they should laugh at jokes about them, or that they otherwise just "shouldn't be so sensitive." For lightly moderated LGBT-related discussion, we recommend /r/ainbow. /r/ainbow does not moderate discussion, but the community will expect that you treat them with respect. For more information, see /r/ainbow's FAQ.

  • Rule 3: Meta discussion will be directed to /r/LGBTOpenModmail. The mods check it frequently and will take suggestions into consideration.

  • Rule 4: Threads that seem to have been taken over by off-topic and/or excessively inflammatory discussion due to linking from other subreddits (Including but not limited to ShitRedditSays, SubredditDrama, and MensRights) will be deleted so they do not appear on r/lgbt's front page. They will still be accessible from outside links. Deleted threads may be unmoderated, so keep this in mind. They are officially disowned and you are on your own if you participate in them.

news about prisons and reform efforts being undertaken (/r/prisonreform)

Over 2,000,000 Americans are currently incarcerated. A far larger number have been in prison, and many will return in the future.

Systemic abuse- rape, neglect, and torture, occur in many countries, both developed and developing. Politics often gets in the way of effective solutions to dealing with issues such as violence, overcrowding, and recidivism in prison.

This is a place to discuss what's being uncovered in the prison system, who's being held responsible, and what's being done to reform the broken system at any level.

/r/tranarchism - The Radical Transgender Agenda (/r/tranarchism)

As tranarchists, we believe that the patriarchal heteronormative cisgendered state-capitalist establishment is directly responsible for the oppression of transgender individuals and therefore must be destroyed. The revolutionary tranarchist platform seeks to build a fabulous society (the trans world order) in which our comrades may be glamorous and beautiful without compromise!

the Transphobia Project (/r/TransphobiaProject)

> Transphobia . . . is a range of negative attitudes and feelings towards transsexualism and transsexual or transgender people, based on the expression of their internal gender identity . . . Whether intentional or not, transphobia can have severe consequences for the target of the negative attitude.” source

The purpose of the Transphobia Project is to help trans people (and our allies) respond to transphobia on Reddit and elsewhere. We connect people who are effected by transphobia with people who express transphobia.

Why? Because the effects of transphobia are catastrophic:

> A staggering 41% of [trans people] reported attempting suicide compared to 1.6% of the general population, with rates rising for those who lost a job due to bias (55%), were harassed/bullied in school (51%), had low household income, or were the victim of physical assault (61%) or sexual assault (64%). source

We are organized because we are fighting for our lives, and because otherwise we are overwhelmed: both numerically and emotionally. We need each other.

If you feel for whatever reason that you are unable to offer an effective response to a particular instance of transphobia, that's ok -- just post a link. That's why we're here.

If you're not certain that what you're posting is “truly” transphobic, * that's ok too.* The closest cases are where our voices are most likely to have a positive impact.

Experience has shown that our most effective responses to transphobia are usually:

  • polite (without equivocating),

  • informative (often with citations), and

  • humanizing

So please, try to be cool.

We are not a "downvote brigade." We ask and expect people to exercise the same “redditquette” that they exercise elsewhere. Our goal is to enlighten, not to antagonize.

We've gathered some helpful resources here
