Interior design

Interior Design is the art and science of understanding people's behavior to create functional spaces within a building.

It is a multi-faceted profession in which creative and technical solutions are applied within a structure to achieve a built interior environment. These solutions are functional, enhance the quality of life and culture of the occupants and are aesthetically attractive.

It includes a scope of services performed by a professional design practitioner qualified by means of education, experience and examination, to protect and enhance the health, life safety, and welfare of the public. Full Definition

State of the Subreddit

This subreddit used to be a dumping grounds for spam and decorative content. It is now in the process of becoming a place to discuss the practice and profession of interior design.

A very important part of this process will require users like you to submit appropriate Interior Design content. This includes floor plans, commercial design, hospitality design, RCPs, electrical plans, medical design, discussions about Revit/AutoCAD/SketchUp, etc.

Err more on the side of architecture and less on the side of decoration.

Rules

1. All content must be related to Interior Design.

2. Posts asking for design advice must include pictures adequate enough to understand the space and its context, and ideally a dimensioned floor plan. Distorted photos do not count.

2a. Posts which require commenters to perform mental gymnastics in order to understand your space or problem will be removed. This rule is currently being enforced with extreme discretion.

3. Content related to Interior Decoration will be removed. This includes any posts which are primarily about color or style. This also includes photos showcasing your current or new decor.

4. Furniture and fixture identification posts will be removed. This includes posts on where to find items.

5. Posts asking for specification help will be removed. This means anyone asking for help finding X piece of furniture below Y price, and anything similar.

6. Blogspam, as always, will be removed. As will any other similar low-quality content. Furniture posts will be heavily scrutinized.

7. Adonis does what he wants. But he's still a benevolent despot.

How do I get flair?

Message the mods. Maybe we'll give you what you ask for. Maybe we won't.
