  • Is there a discord server?
  • Yes, the link is here.
  • Where is the anime in relation to the manga?
  • The end of Season 1 reached Chapter 33 (middle of Volume 8).
  • By Season 2 Episode 12, the anime has reached Chapter 51 (start of Volume 13).
  • What's the status of Season 2?

  • Is there any news on Season 3?
  • Season 3 is confirmed for 2018!
  • When are new manga chapters released?
  • New chapters are released monthly, with official translations coming out at the 8th/9th of every month on Crunchyroll. Note the "Next Simulpub" time on the right.
  • Why does the new chapter say the next won't be for two months?
  • The issues are titled a month ahead. The January issue comes out in December, February in January, and so on.
  • What are OVAs? Are they important?
  • Original Video Animations. They are essentially bonus episodes. There are currently 5 OVAs for the series. One of them, Ilse's Notebook, is very important and we recommend that you watch it, preferably before Season 2. The rest are not important, but can be enjoyed regardless without risk of spoilers.
  • Where can I see all the episode/chapter discussion threads posted on this subreddit?
  • Links to nearly all of the subreddit discussion threads for the anime, the manga, and its respective spin-offs are compiled here (table provided by /u/hoochiex21 and /u/icrawler).
  • I'm confused about the story, what's going on?
  • Summary of the anime up to Season 2 Episode 9.
  • Summary of the manga up to Chapter 93.
  • When will the series end?
  • In September 2013, Isayama mentioned that his aim was 20 volumes (82 chapters, ETA: June 9, 2016). In August 2014, an interview with his editor suggested the series may end in three to four years, making 25 volumes (102 chapters, ETA: February 9, 2018) a more likely estimate. In the summer 2015 issue of Ani An! Magazine, Isayama shares that as of Shingeki no Kyojin manga’s volume 16, the story is about 60% completed, making the total expected length about 27 volumes (110 chapters, ETA: October 9th, 2018). This equals 3 seasons for the anime, assuming there will be ~33 chapters' worth of content per season. In the August 2016 issue of Gong Kakutogi Magazine, he said that he doesn't want to expand the story any further than his current plan.
  • Does the new game have manga spoilers in it?
  • There is some epilogue content, but it does not go further than Season 2 Episode 1.
