Welcome to CreepyEncounters!
This sub is for MILDLY creepy encounters. Encounters where you didn't necessarily feel your life was in immediate danger, but maybe on the inside you were going, "yeah, this is kinda creepy as hell" and wanted to nope out of the situation.
In-person encounters only
>This sub is only for person-to-person creepy situations of the mild type where you weren't ever in any immediate life-threatening danger; just kind of creeped the fuck out or really uncomfortable.
This is the sister sub to LNM. If your submission belongs there, then it doesn't belong here, and vice versa.
> If your encounter was truly terrifying + your life was in jeopardy, or there was immediate danger of physical harm to your person, or it involved any other kind of trauma/drama above and beyond merely creeping you out, post it in /r/letsnotmeet.
No media submissions
>Again, this sub is ONLY for your own personal stories, or those told second-hand to you by family or friends, or what you know happened with the creep next door, or someone on your block. > Do not use this sub to re-tell stories you've read about in the newspaper, Facebook, blogs, etc. > Do not post links or stories here from other places on reddit unless you were directly involved in said story.
Tag NSFW Content
>If your submission is NSFW (meaning its focus is on sexual, or potentially sexual, content), tag it as such after the post goes through. > Please be diligent about marking your submissions, or reporting those that managed to get by us, as some redditors do browse from work.
>While I love a good piece of fiction, this isn't the place for it. All submitted encounters MUST BE TRUE. If you are a budding author, I encourage you to practice as much as possible, just do not post it here. > Violation of this rule will result in a 3-day ban.
Creepy PMs and/or emails
>Again, this sub is for in-person situations. If your encounter was ONLY through the written word via computer or cell phone/text with NO in-person encounter, do NOT post it here.
No paranormal stories
>If your encounter was with something other than a live, breathing human being (or the occasional animal being a jerk), don't post it here. > If you're not sure whether or not it was a person (0-O), don't post it here. > Violation of this rule will result in a 3-day ban.
'Just Say No' to walls of text
>Please refrain from submitting an encounter that is a wall of text. It's not very nice and most redditors won't bother reading it. If it's especially egregious, your submission will be removed. > Break all submissions up into paragraphs by double-tapping the Enter/Return key. It's okay to be generous.
Do NOT intro your submission with, "this was originally posted on LNM", or on Uranus..."
> ...or on a garbage can behind the 7/11. :c > Nobody cares, I promise. Not only is it irrelevant, it disrupts the flow of the story so most readers will downvote OR not even bother to finish reading because it's annoying. > Starting today, anyone who does this will no longer be sent a nice message to edit their post; the submission will simply be removed. We just want to read the story. That's it.
>If you wish to spew racism, this isn't the place for it. There are plenty of places on reddit that will accept and encourage your ridiculous behavior; this isn't that place. Racism will get you banned permanently.
No personal information
>Please do not post the personal information of others. This includes their phone numbers, addresses, place of employment, etc. > >Violation of this rule is a Permanent Ban from the sub. You will also be reported to the Admins and will receive a site-wide ban. > >Don't do this.
Don't be the creep
>Please don't come to a place about creepy encounters and be the creep. > It is not okay to PM any of the submitters or commenters here to gather more information about their encounters without their permission. Just don't do it. I'd hate to see any of you as the subject of a thread on /r/creepyPMs. > Just be normal. Okay?
>Don't be a dick. > If something isn't creepy enough for you, or you think the OP mishandled the situation, please don't harass or attack the submitter. We've lost several submissions and subscribers this way, and it's unacceptable. > It's okay to question the validity of a story (this should also be reported), offer constructive criticism, share opinions, etc., but what's not okay is when that devolves into harassment or an attack. > >You can speak your mind without being an asshole. Promise.
